Selected Salawaat

Allah and His Angels send Blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye Blessings on him, and Salute him with all respect.

When you read or hear this Ayaah of the Quran, it becomes Waajib upon the person to send Salawaat upon the Holy Prophet SAW.

In his commentary for the above verse, Abdullah Yusuf Ali states:
Allah and His Angels honour and bless the Prophet (Sallalaahu Alaihi Wasallam) as the Greatest of Men. We are asked to honour and bless him (Sallalaahu Alaihi Wasallam) all the more because he (Sallalaahu Alaihi Wasallam) took upon himself to suffer the sorrows and afflictions of this life in order to guide us to Allah’s Mercy and the highest inner life.
